ECC with the help of Aurora and Evansville Rescue Mission will distribute 200 cooling kits during the Summer of 2026 to residents at risk of heat stroke.

To help protect vulnerable members of our community during periods of extreme heat, we are distributing 200 Cooling Kits through partnerships with the Evansville Rescue Mission and Aurora.
According to the National Weather Service, extreme heat causes the most weather-related deaths every year. These kits are designed to support heat safety, wellness, and resiliency for individuals and families who may have limited access to cooling resources during the summer months. Each kit includes practical items intended to help reduce heat-related illness risks and improve comfort during high temperatures.
The Cooling Kit initiative focuses on serving community members most impacted by extreme heat, including individuals experiencing housing insecurity.
By working together with trusted local partners, this effort helps ensure critical resources reach those who need them most while strengthening community preparedness and resiliency during severe weather conditions.
